Daniel Edward Schott-Bardol

HICKORY – Daniel Edward Schott-Bardol, 57, of Hickory, NC, died at home on December 26th after a long struggle with alcoholism. He was born in Plainfield, NJ. to the late Ruth (Bardol) and Edward Schott. From an early age it was clear that Daniel had a brilliant and remarkably creative mind and was a consummate performer. He attended Washington and Lee University as well as programs in the performing arts at Yale and Juilliard. In his early 20s he moved to New York City and ultimately to Los Angeles to pursue his love of acting. His credits included a starring role in the TV series Baby Boom, as well as supporting roles and guest starring appearances in Pretty Woman and Murder She Wrote, among others. Daniel was also an extremely talented writer and musician. After meeting the love of his life, Jeanette Bybee, he moved with her to Hickory, North Carolina where they were married in 2003. Along with Jeanette, Daniel provided much love and support to his parents as they aged. In addition to his wife, Daniel is survived by his brother Peter Schott and his wife Sally, his Aunt and Uncle Eric and Diane Schott, in-laws William and Mary Bybee, sister in law Alex Bybee and her husband David McBride, brother in law Howard Bybee, nieces Emily Schott, Sophie and Katie McBride, and nephews William and John Schott. Daniel’s unique brand of tremendous charm, indescribable humor and immense love of people will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2:00pm at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Father Tryggvi Arnason officiating, with receiving of friends and reception following.
