Veteran musician Yockie Suryo Prayogo has passed away at the age of 63.

His wife Tiwi Puspitasari told kompas.com by text message that Yockie had passed away at Pondok Indah Hospital (RSPI) in Bintaro on Monday morning and would be buried at the Karet Bivak public cemetery, Central Jakarta.

Yockie had been hospitalized for complications resulting from diabetes, cirrhosis and a stroke.

On Jan. 24, Indonesian musicians held a charity concert titled “Pagelaran Sang Bahaduri” (Hero's Performance) at the Jakarta Theater of Taman Ismail Marzuki as a tribute to the musician-songwriter as well as to raise money for his treatment.

Yockie, also known as Jockie Soerjoprajogo, was the keyboardist of legendary rock band Godbless. He was also once a member of Kantata Takwa and Swami.

In 1977, Yockie, along with legendary singer Chrisye and songwriter Eros Djarot, released the critically acclaimed album Badai Pasti Berlalu (The Storm Will Surely Pass). (jes/kes)
