E' morto il cantante funk e jazz George Duke: aveva 67 anni

George Duke è morto. Noto come cantante jazz e funk, aveva 67 anni, e aveva lavorato in campo soul e r&b. Non sono ancora note le cause della sua scomparsa.

A partire dagli anni ‘60, Duke ha pubblicato oltre 30 album in studio e ha lavorato con Michael Jackson (per l’album “Off the Wall” del 1979), Frank Zappa e Miles Davis.

Conosciuto soprattutto come cantante dagli amanti della musica, nel corso della sua vita è stato anche arrangiatore, direttore, scrittore, professore e produttore discografico.

Il suo ultimo album, Dreamweaver, è uscito nel luglio 2013.

E’ stato tra i primi ad utilizzare il sintetizzatore

Si è laureato al conservatorio di San Francisco nel 1967

Dalla fine degli anni Sessanta ad oggi ha prodotto anche diversi pezzi di artisti famosi come Anita Baker, Michael Bolton, Rickie Lee Jones, John McLaughlin, Marilyn Scott, Natalie Cole e Stevie Wonder

Molti dei suoi brani sono stati campionati da artisti contemporanei, negli ultimi anni, tra i qualiKanye West e Daft Punk in particolare con il loro classico ‘Love Digital’ con il pezzo I Love You More
