Folk singer Manju Mahat passes away

KATHMANDU, March 29:Nepali folk singer Manju Mahat passed away at Grande Hospital in Dhapasi on Saturday. 

Mahat had met with an accident on Thursday at Galkopakha, Thamel when a microbus hit her scooter while she was on her way to a recording studio. She had sustained serious injury on her left leg, which had to be amputated, at the ill-fated accident. 

With four music albums to her credit, Mahat’s songs ‘Sorha Duna Aath’ and ‘Hira Moti Jhai’ have been much popular among the folk music lovers. She had already been awarded with the Kingfisher Dohori Award and Tuborg’s Dohori Award.
