One of Blackpool's longest serving illusionists has died on holiday in Thailand, the Foreign Office has confirmed.
Richard De Vere, 46, who was master of illusion in Blackpool Pleasure Beach's Mystique show for 13 years, died on Monday.
The entertainer was originally from Bolton but lived on the Fylde coast.
He then starred in his own show, Beyond Belief, from 2008 until last year at the tourist attraction's Horseshoe Bar.
'Sadly missed'
Mr De Vere, who started out as a Pontins Bluecoat, performed with the late comedian Bernie Winters' St. Bernard dog Schnorbitz.
He was due to launch a new show in the resort this summer.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach managing director Amanda Thompson said: "He will be sadly missed by all his friends and loyal fans."
Singer Joe Longthorn tweeted that he was "deeply saddened" to hear the news.
TV presenter and singer Jonathan Wilkes, who formerly worked in the resort, tweeted: "Really sad to hear the news that [an] old friend of mine has passed away Richard De Vere. God bless you mate x."
The Foreign Office said: "We were notified on 10 March of the death of a British National in Thailand. We are providing consular assistance to the family at this difficult time."
