Joey Scinta, pictured here in March 2013, performed with his family in residencies across Las Vegas since the early 2000s.

Joey Scinta of the long-running “The Scintas” resident act has died, according to the Plaza and reports. He was 69.

“We are very sorry for the loss of Joe Scinta. He was a legendary entertainer whose performances will never be forgotten or replicated,” said Jonathan Jossel, CEO of the Plaza Hotel, Friday night on Twitter.

Scinta’s brother, Frankie, who performed alongside him for decades, told KSNV Channel 3 that Joey had suffered a series of strokes. “He’s not suffering anymore and he’s with our father," he told the news station.

Frankie Scinta took to Facebook on Nov. 11 to ask for prayers for his brother, “no matter what your faith is,” he wrote. “No matter what the doctors say about his current condition: I have faith in God that He will intervene. Joey has brought more laughs to people than any human I know. That includes me.”

The Scintas' show has featured the siblings, including their sister, Chrissi, performing music, comedy and impressions. Joey Scinta typically played the bass. Chrissi was sidelined in 2013 because of throat problems.

The group formed and began performing in Buffalo, N.Y., until their 2000 move to Las Vegas, where they starred in a variety of showrooms, the latest being at the Plaza.

"He was a wonderful person with a big heart who made everyone he met smile. We were honored to have him perform the last two years at the Plaza. Our thoughts and prayers are with Frankie and his family," Jossel said.
