 Tollywood Actress Telangana Shakuntala Died of Cardiac Arrest in Hyderabad

Tollywood comedy, character artist Telangana Shakuntala died of cardiacarrest in the early hours of June 14.  She is 63 and is survived by a daughter and a son.  She acted in more than 70 films and also in few Tamil Films. She enteredTollywood in 1981.

Pet Basheerbagh: Popular tollywood character actress Telangana Shakuntala passed away at Kompally, Hyderabad in here residence.  She was 63. She suffered heart attack around 2.30 am on June 14 and was taken to Narayana Hridayalaya hospital in Suraram. But she died before she was admitted into the hospital, which was confirmed by the doctors.

Telangana Shakuntala played character roles in many films.  She entered tollywood film industry with the movie Maa Bhumi in 1981 and her character in Gulabi brought here good recognition.  Her dialogue delivery in Telangana slang was appreciated by many.  She acted in more than 70 films.    She is presently acting in films such as Ramappa, Emaindi Eevela, Naa anevaadu, Sound party and so on. Her recent release was Pandavulu Pandavulu Tummeda.

Telangana Shakuntala is from Maharashtra and her father was an army officer and mother, a house wife.  She had two sisters.  She started her acting career through theatres.  Her first performance was at Ravindra Bharathi.  She acted in thousands of plays.  In Tollywood she is more popular for her villainy and comedy roles.  She is survived by a son and daughter. She won her Nandi award in the year 1980.

Tollywood industry has witnessed deaths of several artists such as Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam, AVS, Sri Hari, Uday Kiran and recently ANR. Shakuntala’s death is another shock to the fans of Shakuntala.

Shakuntala acted in seventy movies which also include few Tamil films.  Aha naa pellanta. Gulabi, Bhadrachalam, Nuvvu Nenu, Kondaveeti simhasanam, Abhumanyu, Bendu Apparao, Chandi, Padavulu Pandavulu Tummeda are few films in which she acted.

Tollywood film industry is shocked to know the sudden death of Shakuntala.  Many remembered the actress and her service to the industry.

In an interview Shakuntala said that she wanted to be a director not for films but for plays.  She felt she did not get a character that gave her complete satisfaction as an actress.  However she liked her characters in Osey Ramulamma, Nuvvu Nenu, Okkadu and Veede.
