Chumlee Of ‘Pawn Stars’ Takes To Twitter To Debunk His Death Hoax
“I’m alive guys. No seriously, I’m definitely still alive!” That must have been Austin Russell’s thinking when he was forced to tweet on Mar. 12 to let all of his ‘Pawn Stars’ fans that he was alive, despite a death hoax reporting otherwise.
Chumlee (a.k.a. Austin Russell) from the History Channel’s hit show Pawn Stars certainly had an interesting Wednesday on Mar. 12 when he became the latest celebrity to be the subject of a death hoax. As rumors quickly circulated around the internet, and fans actually began to mourn Chumlee’s “death,” the reality star took to Twitter to make it very clear that he was still breathing.
Chumlee Responds To Death Hoax: I’m Not Dead!
Chumlee could have said anything — the act of tweeting proved his vital signs were OK — but he also made it clear that he plans to live for quite a long time:
The death hoax ball started rolling when the website EBuzzd posted an article stating that Chumlee had passed away at 31 from a heart attack. As death hoaxes do, the article quickly gained steam thanks to Twitter, but within hours the report was being debunked, and not only by Chumlee himself.
Rick Harrison, Chumlee’s boss and co-star on Pawn Stars, also tweeted a response to the death rumors:
.@chumlee_ is ALIVE & WELL! He is 101 lbs down & in the best health of his life! Thanks for your concern! He is filming today at GS Pawn
Breaking news: CHUMLEE IS ALIVE & WELL! He is actually filming today but we all really appreciate everyone's concern!

Chumlee’s huge weight loss is thought to be the reason for the death hoax, but the reality star asserts that he’s healthier than he’s ever been. “I’m eating right. Well-balanced diet. I drink a juice smoothie every morning,” he told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
So yeah, Chumlee’s the opposite of dead.
