Man killed after being pushed in front of car during fight outside pub 'was engaged to be married'

A man who was killed after being pushed in front of a car during a fight outside a pub was engaged to be married, it has been revealed.
Tributes to 28-year-old Arron Wasdell - who was known to friends by his nickname ‘Fudge’ - have been left at the scene of the tragedy today.
murder investigation is underway and detectives are still questioning a 31-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder following Mr Wasdell's death, the Manchester Evening News reports.
He died at the scene on Boardman Lane, just off Manchester Old Road, following the disturbance outside the nearby Carters Arms.
He is said to have been involved in the altercation and police said the argument ‘resulted in the victim being pushed into the path of a moving car’.

Lots of floral tributes to the victim have already been left at a spot next to the the pub.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 12.45am today.
A police spokesman said: “When officers attended they found a 28-year-old man with serious injuries and despite the efforts of paramedics and officers he sadly died at the scene.
“Initial enquiries have established that shortly before the collision there had been an altercation outside the Carters Arms pub between the victim and a group of men.
"This argument resulted in the victim being pushed into the path of a moving car.”
A post-mortem examination was due to take place later today to establish a cause of death.

Det Supt Andy Peach, leading the investigation, appealed for witnesses to the incident itself and the fight outside the pub. He said: “A man has lost his life after what appears to have been an argument which has got out of control.
“I understand the community will be concerned about what has happened but we believe this was an isolated incident.
“We have already made one arrest in connection with the incident and we have a number of lines of inquiry to follow up and we are confident further arrests will follow.
“This happened in the early hours of a busy Sunday morning so I am confident there will be people out there with information.

The road, which links Manchester Old Road to Heywood Old Road via Ellis Lane, was sealed off today. The pub was closed as a mark of respect to Mr Wasdell’s family.
