The exhibition “Stone by Stone” will be
inaugurated on Thursday 19th December at 6 p.m. at the
Norman Swabian Castle of Bari (press preview at 5 p.m.), within
the cross-border cooperation project “Adristorical Lands”, by
the President of Province of Bari Francesco Schittulli and by the Vice-President
and Head of Culture of the Province of Bari, Nuccio
Altieri.
Press Preview at 5
p.m.
For the first time in the South of Italy, eleven
sculptures by the internationally known sculptor Giampetro
Carlesso, whose works are part of the most important public and private
collections of the world, will be exhibited. Salvatore Buonomo, the
Superintendent for the architectural and landscape heritage for the provinces of
Bari, Barletta-Andria -Trani and Foggia, will attend the
inauguration.
The Culture and Tourism Department of the Province of
Bari has strongly wanted this event taking place in one of the symbol of the
land of Bari, perfectly matching the cultural policies activated in the last
years, aimed at valorising our important historical – cultural patrimony through
an open dialogue with contemporary artistic expressions. The sinuous shapes of
the marble blocks of Lasa, Carrara, Bardiglio, skilfully worked by Carlesso,
will be actually displayed in the most ancient halls of Frederick’s Castle in
Bari, thus creating an ideal link with the stone worked a thousand years
ago.
During the exhibition preview, expected for the press at
5 p.m., “Castles Bari”, the App for Smartphone and Tablet
telling the hundred-year-old history of Castles in the Land of Bari, one of the
cross borders stop-over contemplated by the project, will be presented. The
App, which can be downloaded on electronic devices but also usable through
multimedia totem located in the castles, has been realised by the Corporation,
always within the same project financed by the IPA Adriatic Programme, aiming at
valorising the excellencies of the involved territories: other than the Adriatic
Italian Regions Puglia, Abruzzo, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Marche, Molise and
Veneto, there are Croatia, Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina,
Slovenia
